In the Art Noveau period French craftsmen produced glassware of great skill and artistic creativity. In theearlier period their work had largely been part of the general glass production of Europe, but in the Art Nouveau period French craftsmen were a continual source of new ideas, of imaginative forms and technical combinations, using various kinds of glass and ways of working and decorating it.
