Glass, entirely or partially glazed, was frequently used in 19th c. by Bohemian craftsmen who pioneered the use of varicoloured glazes on a clear glass foundation to achieve a rich interplay of light. This copiously decorated goblet is a fine example of their work. In the Prague Museum of Applied Art there is a jug of the same period with the identical design.
