Marie Louise Laure Sennegon

Marie Louise Laure Sennegon(?), later Mme BaudotCorot's niece
ca. 1829-1830
Camille Corot
A portrait that shows a freshness of experience arising from the childish candour of the model, and the artist's desire to paint her as "faithfully" as possible. It is probably a painting of Marie Louise Laure Sennegon, the oldest child of Corot's sister Annette Octavie and Laurent Denis Sennegon.
Strong cheekbones, face, clothes and hair are very similar to those of Laure on Corot's portraits in the Louvre and in the Town Museum in Semur.
Laure married Philibert Baudot in 1833, and died in childbirth in 1836. Corot portrayed all his sister's children when they were sixteen, which would date this portrait to 1831.
