Portrait of Edouard Gautier-Dagoty
end 18th c.
After Johann Ernst Heinsius
Edouard became well known for a series of colour prints of paintings by famous artists, some of which found a place in the "Gallery of the Duke of Orléans" (Titian, Raphael, Reni etc.). He also made portraits. J. E. Heinsius, the French portraitist of German descent, who spent most of his life in Orléans and Paris, made a portrait of Edouard Gautier-Dagoty and a very faithful colour print of it was made by Carl Lasinio. So it is also possible that this pastel is made after the Lasinio's print.
