Vincezo Catena
The Venetian painter Vincenzo Catena was a pupil of Cimo da Conegliano and developed under the influence of Giovanni Bellini and Giorgione. With the latter he shared a studio. This work in the Mimara Museum has all the characteristics of his late style in which quattrocento brushwork gave way to a composition typical of the harmony and colour of sixteenth-century Venetian art.
