Pietro Tacca
(Carrara, 1577 - Florence, 1640)
The Italian sculptor Pietro Tacca was a pupil of Giovanni da Bologna. He freed himself from Mannerism and gradually turned to early Baroque expression. These two slaves are a repetition of two of the four slaves on the pedestal of the famous Bandini monument to Ferdinand I in Livorno which Tacca made in 1620-1624.
